AUDITION DETAILS:
📅 Dates: May 5 & May 7, 2026
🕕 Time: 6:00–8:00 PM
📍 Location: Davidow Hall Theater, Salem Community College
🎭 Ages: Open to actors ages 7-18
No time slots or reservations required—arrive between 6:00 and 8:00pm on either night.
You do not have to attend both nights!

Vocal Piece - Prepare 16-32 bars/measures of a song that is from a MUSICAL. Choose a song that showcases your voice and vocal range.

If you do not know what to sing, see the attached folder with a song from Shrek Jr. you can use. Optional audition song: Freak Flag - Shrek Jr.
3. SCRIPT READING

You will receive a script excerpt to read with one or two other children who are also auditioning.

You will have time to read through the script piece prior to taking the stage for your audition.
Audition Guide – What to Expect
Nervous about auditions? Don’t be!
Here’s what to expect so you can feel confident and ready.
Auditions for our Children's Musical are open auditions. Arrive within the posted time. No time slots or reservations required.
When You Arrive:
Head to Davidow Hall located at Salem Community College.
Check in at the welcome table and make sure to fill out your online audition form (link found above).
Waiting to Audition:

Volunteers will guide you to the audition area when it is your turn.

You will receive a script to read with one or two other children who are also auditioning. This is a great way to make new friends or say hi to old ones!

While waiting, this is a great time to read over your script with your group or practice your song.

Once it's your turn the director will call you to the stage to read and sing. The music director might ask your child to do scales on the piano if the need to hear more.

Tip: focus on clear diction and confident volume—your words should be easy to understand and reach the entire room!
After Auditions:
Role notifications come via email for role acceptance.After all roles have been accepted, a full cast list will be posted on our website under the "CAST LISTS" tab and on our social media pages.

Before Accepting Your Role:
Make sure you can dedicate the time needed to your role. Below are rehearsal start dates, times and show dates for Shrek The Musical, Jr.
First Rehearsal: June 1, 2026
Rehearsals: Monday-Thursday 4:00-6:00pm
Show Dates: July 16, 17, 18, 2026
Registration Fee: $30

Auditions are open to kids and teens ages 7-18.
